Excel VBA & Macros Programming Course in Singapore

If you spend hours each week on the same Excel reports, clean-ups and consolidations, this Excel VBA course in Singapore shows you how to turn that repetitive work into one-click macros and custom tools. Over three hands-on days in our Singapore classroom, you will move from recording your first macro to writing your own VBA code that processes data, formats worksheets and generates reports in seconds — accurately, every time.

You will write real VBA in the Visual Basic Editor, automate everyday tasks with loops and decisions, build interactive user forms to capture input, and design reusable procedures you can drop into any workbook. By the end, you will have a toolkit of working macros and the confidence to automate the Excel jobs that currently eat your day.

What You Will Learn

  • Record, edit and run macros, then read and refine the VBA code behind them in the Visual Basic Editor.
  • Work with the Excel object model — Range, Worksheets and their properties and methods — to control cells, sheets and workbooks from code.
  • Use variables, data types and operators, and control program flow with For...Next, Do loops, If...Then and Select Case.
  • Automate data jobs: consolidate multiple files, clean and sort data, copy and duplicate ranges, and build pivot-style reports.
  • Create your own user-defined functions and automate calculations such as SUM across dynamic ranges.
  • Build interactive forms and dialog boxes with InputBox, MsgBox and UserForms to collect and validate user input.
  • Structure code into reusable procedures and functions, and apply sound design principles for maintainable solutions.
  • Debug, test and secure your macros — using debugging tools, error handling and macro security settings.

Who Should Attend

This course suits anyone who works in Excel regularly and wants to automate the tedious parts of the job.

  • Business professionals — financial analysts, project managers and administrative staff who run recurring reports.
  • Excel power users ready to move beyond formulas and take their skills to the next level.
  • Analysts and reporting staff in finance, banking, healthcare, customer service and management reporting.
  • Developers and students who want to add a practical, in-demand automation skill to their toolkit.

Prerequisites

  • A good working knowledge of Excel — creating and formatting worksheets, entering data and using basic formulas and functions.
  • Access to Excel 2013 or later, which supports VBA.
  • No prior programming experience required — just a willingness to learn.

Course Outline

Day 1 — VBA Foundations & Your First Macros

  • Getting to know macros — how VBA and object-oriented programming work, and the macro options available in Excel.
  • Recording and running macros — use the Macro Recorder and Personal Macro Workbook to capture repeatable tasks.
  • Editing in the Visual Basic Editor — projects, modules, objects, properties, methods and comments.
  • Debugging and security — step through code with debugging tools, add macros to the Quick Access Toolbar and hotkeys, and set macro security with digital signatures.

Day 2 — Automating Worksheets & Calculations

  • Inserting and formatting text — drive cells and sheets with the Selection, ActiveSheet, Name and Value properties.
  • Sorting and duplicating data — work with the Range object, variables and operators, and use For...Next and Do loops to copy and process data.
  • Generating reports — auto-fit columns, set fonts and call procedures to produce formatted reports from code.
  • User-defined functions & calculations — create custom functions with arguments and automate SUM across declared range objects.

Day 3 — Interactive Tools & Multi-Sheet Automation

  • Dialog boxes and user input — choose between message and input boxes, and capture input with the InputBox and MsgBox functions.
  • Decision structures — branch your code with If...Then, the Else clause and Select Case.
  • Working across worksheets — add, copy, delete, rename, reorder and print sheets using the Add, Copy, Delete and Move methods.
  • Building reusable applications — organise procedures and functions, apply structured design principles, and round off with testing and error handling.

Funding & Certification

This is a WSQ-funded, SkillsFuture-eligible programme for those who qualify, and NTUC members may use UTAP to offset part of the remaining fee. Training is led by Intellisoft’s founder and Master Trainer, Vinai Prakash. Corporate runs for teams of 15 or more can be arranged at your premises or ours.
